Staying Healthy
During a Recession
Some might say we are
in a recession and others think it is just a rough patch. Either way,
you understand now more than ever the need to save money. When times
are tough, luxuries such as gym memberships and healthy food seem
unnecessary. There are plenty of ways you can stay in shape and healthy
without spending money you don't have.
-
Substitute indoor gym equipment with a nice run, walk, bike ride or
working in the yard.
-
Replace strength training machines
with body weight exercises. Push ups, pull ups, sit ups, squats and
lunges will rev up your body.
-
Consider frozen or canned produce.
Usually frozen or canned immediately, these vegetables may actually have
more nutrients than the fresh from your super market. Frozen produce is
also cheaper than fresh fruits and vegetables.
-
Start cooking! Processed foods are
high in sodium and other preservatives that aren't healthy.
Remember that while
cutting certain expenses to save money in the short term may seem like a
good idea, sacrificing your health to save a few dollars can seriously
affect your health in the future.
